Implementing enforcement means asking the Axiomatics Decision Service a question, not writing authorization logic yourself. Whether the request comes from an app, an API, a data layer, or an AI agent, every point asks that same question, keeping access consistent by design.

Developers integrate a simple request-and-response call, not security logic they are not equipped to maintain.

Policy Enforcement Points

API Gateway

FAQs

What is a Policy Enforcement Point (PEP)?

It's the connection point between a protected system, like an application, API, or AI agent, and the Decision Service. It asks whether an action is permitted and then enforces the answer, following the PEP/Policy Decision Point (PDP) model defined in NIST SP 800-162.

Do I need to build custom integration for every system?

Not always. Some enforcement points, like API gateways and service mesh integrations, connect out of the box. Others, especially industry-specific or custom applications, need some integration work.

How does Axiomatics treat AI agents differently from human users?

It doesn't. The same policies and runtime decisions apply to AI agents and service accounts as to human users, so autonomous access gets the same scrutiny.

Can Axiomatics filter or redact data instead of just blocking access?

Yes. Beyond a simple permit or deny, enforcement points can filter which records a query returns or redact specific fields from a response before it's sent back.

What standards does enforcement rely on?

SCIM and JWT for attribute and identity data, and OpenID AuthZEN for how enforcement points communicate with the Decision Service, so integrations aren't locked to a proprietary API.
