XACML evangelist joining Axiomatics

Stockholm, March 16 2011 – Felix Gaehtgens, a renowned industry analyst and expert in the field of policy based authorization, is joining Axiomatics in May 2011. For Axiomatics, this is an important addition. Felix will be working closely with Axiomatics’ customers, the industry and partners to achieve efficient benefits associated with the realization of fine-grained and policy-based authorization. In addition, his experience and insights are a valuable asset in Axiomatics’ continuous efforts to improve its products and to address customers’ needs.

Felix brings decades of experience in the field of identity and access management. Prior to Axiomatics, he was a senior analyst with Kuppinger Cole, an industry analyst and market research company focusing on identity management and cloud computing. Gaehtgens’ responsibilities at Kuppinger Cole included access management and directory services. Within this field, he focused much of his effort on entitlement management and policy-based authorization. During his time at Kuppinger Cole, he published one of the first concise industry reports on XACML.

“Our market is rapidly growing so we are happy to expand our team with yet another expert in the field. With his knowledge from Identity & Access Management in general and his thorough technical skills in particular, Felix adds important competencies to our team”, says CEO Babak Sadighi.

Felix is no newcomer to start-ups either: Prior to joining Kuppinger Cole, he co-founded virtual directory vendor Symlabs in 2001, and stayed on in multiple roles for the company until the end of 2007. He has also worked many years as a consultant within the Telco, financial and automotive sectors, and also worked as a technology adviser to several governments in Europe and Latin America.

“Working as an industry analyst gives you a unique perspective of how technology is evolving to address existing customer problems. The field of policy-based and fine-grained authorization is still largely underserved by the market. At the same time, though, there is a considerable pain felt by organizations struggling with compliance pressure and threats due to privilege abuse”, says Felix. “I saw Axiomatics as a clear leader in this field, and at the same time I was itching to work hands-on again at a young dynamic company with an innovative product and a great team. I am very excited to join the ranks with so many bright minds at Axiomatics and contribute with my knowledge and experience.”

“As a former analyst, I know Felix will adapt quickly to his new role at Axiomatics”, says colleague Gerry Gebel, “I agree that the policy-based authorization segment is still emerging but it is quickly becoming an important part of the overall identity management market.”
