STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - Axiomatics - a Leonardo Company, the leading provider of next-generation authorization solutions, today announced its inclusion in the 2026 Gartner® Hype Cycle™ for Digital Identity. Axiomatics is named as a Sample Vendor for Authorization within the Authorization Management Platforms (AMP) and AuthZEN categories in the report.
The Hype Cycle for Digital Identity, 2026, examines the technologies, standards and approaches shaping the evolving digital identity landscape as organizations respond to the rapid growth of AI agents and other workloads, emerging identity threats and increasing demand for fine-grained authorization. Gartner notes that AI agents and other workloads are spurring rapid innovations in the field of digital identity. Meanwhile, promising innovations for visibility, open standards, and fine-grained authorization shape the broader digital identity landscape.
In the report, Gartner has positioned Authorization Management Platforms in the “At the Peak” phase of the Hype Cycle. Gartner further notes that AMPs are essential for breaking down isolated “authorization silos” and providing a consistent and coordinated approach to managing authorization policies. They strengthen security by enabling least privilege across multiple applications, effectively reducing unauthorized access risks. Axiomatics is listed among the Sample Vendors for the category.
AuthZEN is an authorization standard developed within the OpenID Foundation that focuses on defining protocols for evaluating user permissions and access rights across systems and applications. AuthZEN brings much-needed, standardized interoperability to authorization in order to simplify implementation, reduce costs, enable more sophisticated access control, and accelerate the widespread adoption of externalized authorization management systems.
We believe Axiomatics has been closely involved in AuthZEN from the beginning as a founding member of the Working Group, with our CTO serving as one of its co-chairs. Axiomatics is also named as a Sample Vendor for AuthZEN in the report.
“We believe Axiomatics’ inclusion as a Sample Vendor for both Authorization Management Platforms and AuthZEN reflects the direction authorization is heading: toward externalized, dynamic and interoperable access control,” said David Brossard, Chief Technology Officer at Axiomatics and AuthZEN co-chair. “Open standards like AuthZEN are particularly important as organizations look to apply consistent authorization across increasingly complex environments without locking themselves into proprietary approaches.”
According to the report, “AMPs are essential for breaking down isolated ‘authorization silos’ and providing a consistent and coordinated approach to managing authorization policies.” The report also points that “Emerging standards and protocols including AuthZEN and Shared Signals Framework also promise high value.”
