STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - Axiomatics - a Leonardo Company, the leading provider of next-generation authorization solutions, today announced the release of Axiomatics Authorization Management Platform 26.2, introducing new capabilities that make authorization policies easier to create, manage, and maintain across enterprise environments.
As organizations manage access across increasingly complex AI, data, APIs, and applications, authorization requires greater collaboration, flexibility, and control. Security teams, developers, and policy authors need tools that simplify policy management while maintaining consistent governance.
Version 26.2 builds on the foundation introduced in the previous release, with enhancements to the Axiomatics Authorization Hub, the platform's centralized policy creation and management module. These improvements make policy authoring more accessible, enhance collaboration, and support a wider range of enterprise requirements.
“We're excited to introduce new capabilities that change how organizations interact with authorization policies. From visual policy editing to AI-assisted authoring, version 26.2 makes it easier for teams to create, understand, and maintain policies. This is an important step toward making enterprise authorization more accessible and efficient while keeping security and control at the center,” said Deepak Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Axiomatics.
What’s New in This Release
This release focuses on strengthening the platform’s ability to support modern deployment models, automate authorization management, and improve visibility into access decisions.
Key advancements include:
- Graphical Policy Editor: A new visual, low-code interface allows users to create, edit, and review authorization policies without working exclusively in code. Users can switch between graphical and code views, making policy authoring more accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Blueberry AI Assistant (Experimental): A new AI-powered assistant helps policy authors understand existing policies, propose changes using natural language, and test suggested updates. Authors remain in control, reviewing and approving changes before they are applied.
- Safe Parallel Editing: Multiple users can work on authorization policies independently without unintentionally overwriting each other's changes, enabling better collaboration across teams.
- Improved Visibility and Change Management: New activity tracking, domain history, and rollback capabilities provide greater visibility into policy changes and help teams manage updates with confidence.
- AuthZEN Support: Native support for the OpenID Foundation's AuthZEN Authorization API enables standards-based integration between applications and Axiomatics. Organizations can use a standardized interface to request fine-grained authorization decisions, reducing integration complexity and improving interoperability without changing existing eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML) integrations.
- Enhanced Enterprise Deployment Flexibility: Support for air-gapped installations, configuration import/export, and configurable XACML attribute identifiers helps organizations accommodate existing infrastructure, integrations, and operational requirements.
These improvements help organizations manage authorization more consistently while reducing operational complexity.
Simplifying Policy Authoring with Graphical Policy Editor
Creating and maintaining fine-grained authorization policies often requires specialized technical knowledge. With the introduction of the new Graphical Policy Editor, Axiomatics makes policy authoring more accessible to a wider range of users.
The new low-code interface allows users to visually create, edit, and review authorization policies without working exclusively in code. Users can switch between graphical and Abbreviated Language for Authorization (ALFA) code views of the same policy, making it easier to understand policy structures and collaborate across teams.
By supporting different approaches to policy authoring, the Graphical Policy Editor helps organizations reduce reliance on a small group of specialists, involve more stakeholders, and simplify ongoing policy management.
Introducing the AI-Assistant Policy Authoring (Experimental)
Version 26.2 introduces an experimental AI-assisted policy authoring capability within the Axiomatics Authorization Hub, currently available in the UI under the name Blueberry.
This capability explores how generative AI can help policy authors work more efficiently by interacting with authorization policies using natural language.
Users can:
- Understand existing policies: Get natural-language explanations of authorization policies and their logic.
- Propose policy changes: Describe desired changes and receive AI-generated suggestions.
- Validate updates: Compile and test proposed changes before they are presented for review.
- Maintain control: Review and approve suggested changes before applying them.
Blueberry is designed to assist policy authors, not replace them. Human oversight remains central to the process, while authorization decisions continue to be evaluated by the platform's deterministic policy engine.
As an experimental feature, it provides an opportunity to explore AI-assisted policy authoring and gather feedback to guide future development.
Together with the other enhancements in version 26.2, this capability helps organizations understand, develop, and maintain authorization policies as their requirements evolve.
Note: This experimental feature is currently called Blueberry in the product interface. This is a temporary name and will be replaced by a more descriptive capability name in a future release.
Advancing Interoperability with AuthZEN
As organizations adopt more applications, APIs, and distributed systems, integrating authorization consistently across different technologies becomes increasingly important.
Version 26.2 introduces native support for the OpenID Foundation's AuthZEN Authorization API in Axiomatics Decision Service (ADS), enabling applications to request fine-grained authorization decisions through a standardized, vendor-neutral interface.
With AuthZEN support, organizations can connect applications and services to ADS without implementing XACML-specific request formats. ADS evaluates these requests using its existing policy engine and returns standardized authorization decisions, while maintaining compatibility with existing XACML integrations.
This advancement helps organizations:
- Simplify integration: Reduce the need for custom authorization integrations and XACML-specific development.
- Improve interoperability: Connect applications, APIs, and authorization services using a common, standards-based interface.
- Maintain consistent authorization: Apply existing ADS policies to AuthZEN requests without duplicating authorization logic.
As a founding member of the OpenID AuthZEN Working Group, Axiomatics continues to actively contribute to the development and adoption of open authorization standards, helping organizations build more interoperable and future-ready authorization architectures.
Strengthening Collaboration and Enterprise Control
Authorization policies often need to be managed by multiple teams, making visibility, consistency, and change control essential.
Version 26.2 introduces new capabilities that help teams collaborate more effectively while maintaining oversight of policy changes. Safe parallel editing prevents users from silently overwriting one another's work, while activity tracking and domain history provide greater transparency and recovery options.
Expanding Enterprise Deployment Flexibility
The release also expands deployment flexibility, including support for isolated Kubernetes environments and improvements that help organizations maintain existing integrations.
These advancements are particularly valuable for enterprises operating across complex infrastructure and regulated environments, where authorization must remain consistent, manageable, and adaptable.
Looking Ahead
Version 26.2 marks another step in the evolution of the Axiomatics Authorization Management Platform, making policy-driven authorization more accessible, collaborative, and adaptable to enterprise needs.
As organizations expand their use of AI, data, APIs, and applications, Axiomatics remains committed to helping customers centrally manage and enforce authorization policies across their digital environments.
We look forward to continuing to work closely with our customers and partners to advance secure, compliant, and cost-efficient authorization.
