The Challenge

Complex, Classified, and Distributed Access Control

Danish Defence operated in a highly sensitive environment where access to information needed to be tightly controlled based on roles, clearance levels, mission context, and system classification. As systems evolved and digitalization increased, access control logic became fragmented across applications and difficult to manage consistently.

This led to challenges in maintaining oversight, enforcing uniform security policies, and ensuring that access decisions aligned with operational and regulatory requirements across all environments.

 

 

The Result

Centralized, Policy-driven Security

By adopting a centralized, policy-driven approach with Axiomatics, Danish Defence externalized access control from individual systems and unified authorization across the enterprise.

Using attribute-based access control (ABAC) principles, policies were defined using contextual attributes such as user role, clearance level, mission assignment, data classification, and operational environment. This enabled fine-grained, real-time access decisions that aligned with strict security requirements.
