Senior Software Engineer – SaaS Platform

As a Senior Software Engineer for the SaaS platform at Axiomatics, you will be contributing to design and development for the next generation of Axiomatics’ “as-a-service” products. You will also collaborate closely with our Architecture Council, a cross functional team which is responsible for the development of architecture principles and guidelines, contributes to our innovation strategies and actively monitors existing and emerging technologies.

What you will be doing

• Contribute to Axiomatics’ SaaS journey by actively designing and building features for our cloud-native components and decision engine.
• Participate in deciding the best practices and ways of working.
• Participate in product documentation with input as subject matter expert.
• Collaborate closely with other engineers, tech leads and product owners in the scope of an agile team.
• Help define and keep an up-to-date technology stack.
• Actively provide feedback to the development team on architectural proposals and suggestions.
• Assist by checking compliance with architectural principles and guidelines.
• Engage in evaluations of new technology, occasionally building and/or helping build prototypes to understand its pros and cons.
• Developing automated tests to support the pipelines for Continuous Deployment.
• Review code and make sure that the best practices are enforced.
• Contribute with an agile mindset to achieve the end goal of the SaaS journey.

Skills and experience

• MSc degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• At least three (3) years of experience with development of distributed systems.
• Top-notch Java and Gradle skills.
• Proven experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Clear understanding of the modern agile development practices.
• Excellent command of the main architectural patterns in use today and the operational characteristics of highly available and scalable applications.
• Proven experience in building SaaS applications.
• Proven experience in building and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven experience designing microservice architectures.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code patterns and toolsets.
• Practical experience from development of multi-tenant SaaS solutions on public clouds such as Azure, AWS and/or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust principles, Identity and Access Management as well as cloud security.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to less senior engineers.
• Experience leading, mentoring and/or coaching other engineers.

Nice-to-have qualifications

• Any development or architecture-related certification issued by one of the main cloud providers.
• Experience applying Domain Driven Design.
• Applied knowledge of architecture documentation methodologies such as C4.
• Experience evolving architectures towards a microservice architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of authentication and authorization concepts and technologies such as OAuth2, OpenID Connect, Kerberos, SAML, Certificate based authentication, etc.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Experience building infrastructure and deploying applications in a public cloud (preferably AWS) using infrastructure-as-code solutions such as Terraform.
